Andrea

Stevens

Andrea Stevens began her coaching career at age 22 in 2012 at Independence High School in Independence, Louisiana. She served as an AmeriCorps Community HealthCorps Member, and during her service year she decided to use her love for track and field and nutrition as her independent case study and research. As a volunteer at Independence High, she focused heavily on the science of the sport. It was important for her to make sure that even the youngest athletes understood the way their bodies processed and used the different foods that they consumed. By recognizing the importance of nutrition, the athletes will perform at an optimal level. Through her assistance, the young ladies were able to advance to the State track meet. 

After a 5 year hiatus from track and field, Stevens began coaching in 2017 as the assistant girl’s coach at Miller Grove Middle school in Decatur, Georgia, where she also teaches sixth grade. While she enjoyed coaching at the middle school level, that same season she was asked to be the Head Girl’s Track Coach at Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia, Georgia. During the 2017 track season at Arabia, under her leadership, all of the young ladies signed national letters of intent and enrolled into those respective universities for the 2017-2018 school year. Furthermore, Arabia’s girls placed 2nd in 5A Region 5, and were a force to be reckoned with at the 5A State Championships in 2017. Repeating as 5A Region 5 runner ups this season (2018), Arabia is certain to make more noise this year at the State meet. In addition to coaching track and field at Arabia, she is also the Head Coach of Arabia’s Cross Country Team.  

Andrea has spent decades involved in the sport as an athlete and more recently as a coach. As a graduate of McEachern High School in 2005, Andrea competed in the 400m, 4x100m, and 4x400m. She was also a member of Boys & Girls Track Clubs of Mero Atlanta. 

She is the co-founder of Primetime Track and Field of Atlanta. She specializes in sprints, weight training, and nutrition.
